Preventative Treatments

In addition to preventative dental visits (cleanings), we offer various other preventative treatments to help patients avoid more serious dental diseases.

Dental Sealants

Some teeth have fine grooves or pits that are impossible to clean thoroughly with a toothbrush, making them susceptible to cavities—especially in young children. Dental sealants fill in these grooves or pits, preventing plaque from becoming trapped and reducing the chances of developing cavities.

Dental X-rays

We use the latest x-ray technology in the form of digital radiography, which allows us to detect very small cavities that can be treated preventatively with fluoride toothpaste before they grow too large.

  • Less Radiation: Digital X-rays use significantly less radiation than conventional film X-rays.
  • Enhanced Imaging: The result is a highly detailed image that can easily be enhanced to better diagnose dental concerns and determine the very best treatment.

We are also one of the few general dental offices to offer a cone-beam 3D scanner, which provides better visualization of jaw joints for TMJ therapy, bone levels for implant procedures, and roots of a tooth for root canal therapy.

Mouthguards, Nightguards, and Therapeutic Bite Splints

Depending on your specific needs, we custom-design mouthguards, night guards, and therapeutic bite splints to protect your teeth and help treat any TMJ issues.

  • Mouthguards: Recommended to protect the teeth and jaw during physical activity and contact sports.
  • Night Guards: Made for patients who clench or grind their teeth at night.
  • Therapeutic Bite Splints: Made for patients who have joint or muscular pain.

A thorough evaluation by the dentist will determine the best treatment for your needs.

Gum Treatments

The gums and bones surrounding your teeth form the foundation for overall dental health. When these areas are unhealthy, teeth may not be as stable as they could be, leading to periodontal disease. This chronic condition requires close monitoring to help patients return to good oral health. Some signs of periodontal disease include:

  • Persistent bad breath
  • Gums that bleed easily
  • Loose teeth
  • Changes in the position or bite of teeth

With proper gum treatments, it may be possible to restore gum tissue to a healthy state. This treatment is known as Scaling and Root Planing, which involves a deep cleaning of the gums surrounding the teeth. If periodontal disease becomes too severe, gum surgery or tooth extraction may be necessary.
