Dentures, also known as false teeth, are prosthetic devices made to replace missing teeth. Conventional dentures are removable and are designed to closely resemble your natural teeth, improving your overall appearance. However, they do not feel exactly like natural teeth and will require some getting used to. Common conventional denture options include:
- Complete Dentures
- Partial Dentures
- One-Hour Dentures
You can also explore more stable denture options connected to implants by referring to our Dental Implants section.
Complete Dentures
Complete dentures are one of the more affordable options for replacing all missing teeth in either the upper or lower jaw. Although they don’t provide the same retention level as implant-supported dentures, they are typically held in place with denture adhesive.
Many patients find that it takes time and effort to adjust to these traditional dentures, which offer about 20% of the function of natural teeth. This denture will need a few adjustments, as the gums will need to get used to the new denture. Complete dentures are made in a lab, are custom-made, and tend to last 5-10 years.
3D Printed Dentures
These dentures are created by scanning your mouth or an existing denture. We can design and 3D print dentures that look incredibly lifelike. They typically last 3 to 5 years and can be reprinted quickly if they are lost or broken.
Partial Dentures
A removable partial denture is used when only a few teeth are missing. These dentures consist of replacement teeth attached to a plastic or metal base that rests on your gums. As with complete dentures, a few adjustments will be necessary for proper fit as your gums adjust.
One Hour Dentures
One-hour dentures are a temporary solution that can be fabricated in just one visit. They are made using one of five standard templates and are significantly less expensive than conventional dentures. However, these dentures are not meant to be long-term and are often used immediately after teeth extractions.
Implant Supported Dentures
For patients seeking greater stability, implant-supported dentures provide a secure option. These dentures snap onto implants, keeping them in place without shifting or moving around while you speak or chew. See the Dental Implants section for more information.
Implant-supported denture options include:
- Locator Implants
- Mini Implants
- Fixed-Hybrid Dentures
- All-on-Four
- Screw-in Bridges
